Research on rotary navigation drilling tools and its application

  • The research on the national 863 study project-study on the rotating navigation 3D controlled drilling techniques-and its field test are discussed. According to the technical characteristics of the rotating navigation drilling, four key techniques are studied, including the rotary navigation eccentric tool, the mud pulser and the transmission technique of the downhole measurement data, the measurement technique of the geologic parameters while drilling, the measurement technique of the downhole actual drilling engineering parameters. The rotary navigation drilling system with independent intellectual property right is developed. Through a lot of lab simulation test, the designing principle of the system is verified. Drilling test in onshore and offshore oilfields shows that the deviation and azimuth control of the system meets the requirement when the deviation is about 60°. The drilling pressure is increased by using the rotary navigation bottomhole assembly (BHA). It can reach as high as 240 kN. This lays a solid engineering basis for the further improvement and application of the rotary navigation drilling system during the 11th Five-Year Plan period.
