Drilling techniques in ultra-shallow extended-reach Louping-2 horizontal well

  • In order to increase the production degree of the heavy oil reserves in Henan Oilfield, perfect the steam injection development well pattern, increase the thermal productivity of oil wells, explore new rational approaches to economic development of shallow ultra-heavy reservoirs, the first ultra-shallow medium curvature extended-reach horizontal well-Louping-2 well- is deployed in the Jinglou block. In view of the technical problems of the well, such as the shallowness, the medium curvature, and the loose formation, technical research on the medium curvature well path control in the surface directional formation and the shallow loose formation, the injected casing pressure of the medium curvature bore hole, the drilling fluid composition, the field technology and cementing operation technology is conducted. The well has a drilled depth of 530 m, a vertical depth of 164.2 m, a horizontal displacement of 407.9 m, and a maximum inclination 96.28 °. The ratio of the horizontal displacement to the vertical depth is 2.51. The production casing running to the designed position is fulfilled, and cementing is qualified. The operation and development effect of steam stimulation is good. Test in this well and three other wells shows that it is feasible to conduct heavy oil production in the ultra-shallow loose formation in Henan Oilfield by using the medium curvature extended-reach horizontal well technique with the implementing vertical depth ranging from 162 m to 185m, the inclination being 96°, the displacement of 410 m, and the ratio of the horizontal displacement to the vertical depth less than 2.51. The successful test can be a good reference to the development of other similar oilfields in China.
