Study on the slip pile depth prediction for offshore drilling conductor installation

  • In view of the slip pile depth prediction in pile construction is concentrated on pile driving risk analysis of large diameter and super-long piles, but the slip depth and slip pile mechanism of offshore riser construction is lack of study, which means blindness and risk exist in operation. The geometrical relationship between conductor and offshore platform during pile driving operation, the ultimate bearing capacity of conductor and the slip pile mechanism were analyzed, and then the theoretical prediction model of the slip depth for offshore conductor driving construction was proposed. The theoretical prediction model of slip depth has been successfully applied in several wells in an offshore oil field, and the actual slip depth of conductor driving is nearly in line with the calculated result. The research achievements provide the theoretic foundation for risk assessment of conductor operation, and ensure security for offshore drilling.
