Electromagnetic wave DREMWD system and its field application

  • As a novel technology in petroleum exploration development field, electromagnetic wave MWD is characterized by high signal transmission speed, little affect from drilling fluid media, low cost, and so on. The paper briefly introduced the feature of the electromagnetic wave transmission technique, proposed the critical modules constituting the electromagnetic wave system, and described the working principle and system composition of the electromagnetic wave tools for DREMWD, which was self-designed. In order to check the working performance, it was applied in field both on directional wells and horizontal wells, In the course of using, DREMWD saves drilling time by higher data transmission speed and stability. The DREMWD which is configured with dynamic azimuth gamma collar has a remarkable advantage in judging coal seam in the application of horizontally guided CBM wells.
