Research on the simultaneous volume fracturing of multiple wells

  • Simultaneous fracturing of multiple wells is a technique that stimulate two or more coupled wells in the same time, which is expected to increase the density and surface area of the hydraulic fracture network, and then obtain a higher initial production rate and maintain a steady production for a longer period. This paper investigates the mechanism of the fracture network between the coupled wells to connect, and analyzes the fracturing principle of the varying stress among the wells. Besides, some examples are addressed to interpret the way to conduct the technique of simultaneous volume fracturing of multiple wells. Field application data show that the technique can greatly enhance the initial production and the ultimate recovery of the coupled wells.
