A new reservoir flow coupling model for productivity prediction in segregated completion horizontal wells

  • With the deep development of the bottom water reservoirs, reservoirs with bottom water and gas cap, and other types which need layered exploitation, the horizontal well segregated completion technology has become wide spread use. In order to accurately predict the capacity of the horizontal well after segregating, it is necessary to take reservoir flow coupling into account. Based on the penetration mechanism analysis in segregated completion horizontal wells, in the view of three common reservoir types, pressure drop model in segregated completion horizontal wells was deduced according to the principle of mass conservation and momentum theorem. Then using the potential of superposition principle and mirror image principle, the three-dimensional steady-state seepage potential distribution and stress distribution were obtained. Thirdly, combined with the segregated completion pressure drop calculation model, the three-dimensional steady-state hydro-mechanical coupling productivity prediction model was established. Finally, through actual example, we recognized that in the different types reservoir, the production section pressure drop and flow rate were very different when taking the principles of potential superposition and mirror reaction into account. The results show that regarding to segregated completion, to consider reservoir flow coupling could exactly describe pressure distribution surrounding horizontal wells and well predict the productivity after segregated.
