High pressure and gas migration control cementing techniques for well Y-1 in block D Myanmar

  • Well Y-1 is the deepest exploration well in block D Myanmar The cementing job is very difficult on the well, because of high pressure, fluid loss and serious collapse, narrow weight window, etc, and there is limited data for reference. To overcome these difficulties, through optimizing particles of cement and additives, the high density gas crossing proof slurry was developed. The slurry performance was tested by machine-stop method to ensure its fitness for all the cementing status. In the field tests, pilot slurry technique was taken to improve displacing efficiency. Wellhead pressure was controlled to prevent leakage. Liner hanger with packer and back pressure technique was applied to enhance the cement slurry performance on gas migration and avoiding loss in cementing job. The cementing job was finished successfully, without gas migration and loss in pumping and displacing job, and the cement quality met the requirement of well completion. The job sets an excellent example for the block in cementing job.
