Synthesis and evaluation of new terpolymer scale inhibitor

  • Terpolymer is synthesized by new monomer(XA-1)and acrylic acid (AA) as well as acrylic amide(AM). The effect of monomer ratio, dose of initiator, reaction temperature on scale inhibition rate of copolymers is examined and antiscale performance of polymer is evaluated. The results show the optimum condition of polymerization is the monomer(XA-1) 60% and acrylic acid 30% and acrylic amide10% and dose of initiator 0.4% and the reaction temperature 70℃ and reaction time 6 h. The scale inhibition rate of the copolymer formed at the condition is 94.8% on barium sulfate with the addition of 12 mg/L. The scale inhibition rate of the copolymer reduces when the temperature rises and the concentration of sodium ion in formation water gets higher.
