Development and application of digital electric drive liquid blowout preventer control system

Abstract
The gas drive liquid blowout preventer system(BOP)control system has some problems, for instance, the well control operations are often delayed or unresponded for the freeze-jam or air lock in the air cable. To solve the prolems, digital electric drive liquid techniques are developed, and a series of transformation is conducted on the BOP control system. Systems of data acquisition, transmission, display, and digital process are designed. Gas signals for action command transmission are transformed into electric signals. Air cylinder, air cable, and former driller console are replaced by hydraulic cylinder, five-core shielded cable, and liquid crystal display(LCD)touch screen respectively. Through the well-site test, the new control system shows advantages in operating, mounting, signal transmission, working conditions monitoring real-time and parameter storaging. The reconstruction could be realized easily just by changing a little and meets the demands at the well-site so it could be applied in the north of China.
