Research on slotted screen for anticorrosion and antiscale in oil/water wells

  • As a slotted screen is employed in sand control in oil /water wells, its anticorrosion effect and antiscale effect are supposed to improve the production of oil and water. This paper introduces a special slotted screen of anticorrosion characteristic and antiscale characteristic in sand control in oil /water wells, and their acting mechanism. By conducting comparative test on two types of slotted screen samples made of the same materials but different processing methods in the lab, it is proved that CBN ceramic cutting method may improve the anticorrosion and antiscale properties of the slotted screen by boronising the surface during cutting. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and scanning electron microscopy analysis show that there are Fe2B and FeB on the screen surface. In additions, the anticorrosion and antiscale mechanisms, processing methods, and design principles are discussed in this paper. The definition of the material matching between the anticorrosion and antiscale properties of slotted screen and casing (tubing) is given, according to the structural characteristics and working conditions of slotted screen.
