Application of MRC technology to global oilfield development

  • MRC technology is identified as one of the eight new drilling technologies with the most potential for development in 21st century by the petroleum experts all over the world,as well as the development tendency of the petroleum technology in 21st century.Besides its conventional advantages like horizontal wells,MRC features in lower cost than the single horizontal well,because it drills two or more branch holes through a main hole.Based on using MRC technology,it is capable of discovering pay zones in different spatial positions,increasing the probability of drilling through reservoir and its effective area,providing many oil drainage modes,controlling bottom water coning,and lowering the edge water advancing speed,so as to enhance the oil/gas production of individual wells.The MRC technology has been fully developed in developed countries and has been an important technology widely used in oil and gas field development all over the world.It will contribute a lot to the high efficiency and high quality development and the sustainable development of the global oil and gas resources.
