Research on solution property and evaluation method of polymer gels and hydrophobic associating polymer

  • To find out the exact evaluation method proper to the hydrophobic associating polymer, the property of polymer gels and hydrophobic associating polymer solution under static condition and dynamic condition are compared in this paper. The analysis shows that the molecule chain coupling is the common feature of the two systems. However, the biggest difference between them is that polymer gels is chemistry association and hydrophobic associating polymer solution is physics association, and the intension of molecule chain coupling between them is different, too.Experiment results show the two systems share similar flowing features.Transition pressure exists in the flowing of colloidal dispersion gels through porous media, while hydrophobic associating polymer solution have similar transition pressure when the solution consistency below the critical consistency or above the critical passes through high speed shearing. It is obvious that the similar molecule chain coupling makes the two systems have possibility of reference for each other either from the perspectives of the research on their properties. It is suggested that the methods of HPAM and polymer gels should be also used to evaluate the hydrophobic associating polymer,so as to carry out the comparative study on the hydrophobic associating polymer and polymer gels.
