APPLICATION OF POWERV TECHNOLOGY IN THE DEVELOPMENT WELLS OF KELA-2 GASFIELD

  • With the proceeding of exploration and development in the piedmont structure in Tarim, straight hole fast drilling technology is becoming more and more important in drilling in this area. As the major gas resource for the East to West Gas Transportation Project, Kela-2 gasfield, a gasfield located in the piedmont structure of Kuche Depression of Xinjinag is now in the phase of large scale development. Formation characteristics of Kela-2 gasfield are described, while the straight hole drilling technology for the piedmont steep structure, as well as the working mechanism and applications of PowerV vertical drilling system are illustrated. PowerV was applied in two vertical development wells in the ?406.4 mm hole section, and its applications were evaluated from such aspects as technology and economy. It was concluded that on such aspects as straight hole fast drilling in the piedmont steep structure, shortening drilling period and cutting down drilling cost, PowerV has certain referential benefits.
