OPTIMIZING DESIGN OF HITTING TARGET FOR GEO-STEERING HORIZONTAL DRILLING

  • The problem of hitting targets for geo-streering horizontal drilling is how to design the well path to be drilled while the target position isn’t sure. This paper analyses a two-step method to solve the problem. The first step is trying to find out top interface of pay zone, and the second step is hitting target when its position is definite. To minimize the length of moving target A backward, the method of finding out top interface of pay zone is discussed and optimized. Finally, this paper described the application of this method in geo-steering horizontal drilling.
