  • The progress of oil and gas drilling technology during the last 50 years,especially during the last 20 years,is briefly rewiewed in this paper.The typical technologies are introduced,such as Measurement While Drilling,Logging While Drilling,Integrated Drilling Evaluation and Logging,Dynamic Data System,Closedloop Drilling Technology,Horizontal Well Drilling Technology,Extended-reach Well Drilling Technology and Multilateral Well Drilling Technology.Their advantages and potentials are then analyzed.All above shows the developing tendency of drilling technology towards information,intelligence and automation in favor of new oil gas reservoir exploitation and oil and gas recovery enhancement.
