SIMULATION TESTON THE TECHNOLOGY FOR CONTROLLING INJECTED-WATER PROFILES WITH FLOATING SPHERES

  • The feasibility and effectiveness of the technology for controlling the injected-water profile in oil wells with floating spheres are experimentally verified in this paper.A great number of experiments are carried out and careful measurements are made to gain reliable data.Influence of factors, such as the position of the target stratum layer, the total flow rate of the injected water, the outflow through shot holes, and the density and diameter of the spheres and so forth, the effectiveness of this technology is investigated. The moving behavior of the floating sphere and the mechanism for the floating sphere to automatically adjust the injected-water flowing to each stratum layer are obtained. It is found that the experimental results are in very good agreement with the previous theoretical analysis, indicating that this technology can effectively adjust the outflow of each layer under various injection conditions, and it is a promising technique for controlling water flow profile in injection wells. The data obtained in this study are very helpful and instructive for applying the technology to on-site oil production operations.
