  • The retrievable BHA (bottom hole assembly) is the key technology in casing drilling. Such tools from Tesco and Sperry-Sun are mentioned in this paper, focusing on their structures and working mechanisms. Field applications show that the retrievable BHA can be smoothly run in the hole without any trouble, yet the average recovery rate is only of 70%. Experience and lessons got for tripping in and out are summarized, and some recommendations are also proposed.
