APPLICATION OF PRESSURE MONITORING THROUGH ROCK DRILLABILITY IN HPHT WELLS

  • During the whole process of well drilling, rock drillability is mainly influenced by formation characteristics, in which the formation pore pressure is an important parameter. Based on the simulation test in the laboratory condition and vast field drilling data, the correlation between rock drillability and formation pore pressure is established. In field drilling, formation pore pressure may be monitored through the changing of rock drillability. This method has been applied in the western oilfield of South China Sea, and good results have been achieved.
