THE WELL CONTROL TECHNOLOGY OF WELL HALDA-1

  • Well HALDA-1 is a directional well for developing the deep high pressured natural gas reservoirs in Bangladesh and it’s drilled for Cairn Energy PLC by the No. 5001 drilling crew of Zhongyuan Oilfield. The total depth is 4519.7m, and the highest drilling fluid density reaches 2.2g/cm3, meanwhile rich shallow gas is found in the interval from 300~1500m, thus well control is very important for the successful drilling. This paper introduces the conventional practices of western companies on well control, from such aspects as drilling equipment, operation procedure, drilling technology in the shallow gas reservoir, and top drive system.
