THEORETICAL STUDY OF TOP CEMENT PULSATION

  • Top cement pulsation (TCP) is a new cementing technology suitable for complex formations, and it can delay the static pressure loss of slurry, effectively prevent gas migration and improve cement bond logging quality, so the cementing quality is improved. In mechanism of delaying the static pressure loss, it is similar with that of casing vibration and rotation, but TCP is more practical and effective. This paper describes the involved basic theory, objectives, and key problems of this technology, and discusses the achievements, i.e., the mutual adjusted relations between the top cement pulsation equations, boundary and initial conditions and the output parameters of top equipment. It also provides a theoretical foundation for the optimal design of top cement pulsation and the compressor parameters.
