A NEW METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE DEFLECTING CAPACITY OF BOTTOM HOLE ASSEMBLY

  • Accurate prediction of BHA deflecting capacity is very important for precise well trajectory control. This paper presents a new and practical predicting method based on the conventional one. This method involves the identifying of the equalizing lateral force in a formation under certain conditions, by determining the specific angle-holding BHAs in different formations in the same block, and it takes such influencing factors as hole trajectory, drilling parameters, as well as formation parameters into consideration. Example calculation using the data from a certain block in Changqing Oilfield is conducted.
