A NEW PRACTICAL METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF WELLBORE STABILITY

Wellbore stability is very important for fast and safe drilling. This paper estimates the advantages and disadvantages of conventional method for wellbore stability analysis and its onsite use, and presents a more practical method for wellbore stability prediction and post-drilling analysis on field. This method uses statistics in combination with drilling logs and sonic logging data, to disclose the tendency of wellbore stability. It is beneficial for determining suitable and safe mud density in drilling.
