ORIENTED PERFORATING COMPLETION TECHNIQUE FOR LOW-PERMEABILITY AND/OR FRACTURED POOLS

  • Fractures are main flowing channel and effective storage space of low-permeability and/or fractured pools. The productivity and treatment effectiveness of oil/gas well depend on whether or not the perforating tunnels interconnect with natural fractures. The angle between perforating tunnel and fracture plane and the perforation length are main technological parameters. When the per forating tunnel is perpendicular to fracture plane or minimum horizontal major stress, the longer the per foration length, the higher the production of perforation. Therefore, the oriented perforating completion is a new technology for improving the development benefits of the said reservoirs. After the perforating parameters are optimized by the computer software for oriented per foration design, the downhole instruments and surface computer system for oriented perforating are used for determining the position of perforating gun and the orientation of perforation, which makes the perforating tunnel is perpendicular to fracture plane or minimum horizontal major stress, and increasing greatly the productivity of oil/gas well.
