CHARACTERISTIC POINT ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE USING THE PRESSURE IDENTIFICATION CURVE OF SLUG FLOW

  • This paper discusses the well test interpretation method of slug flow from a new angle,and presents a method for calculating the formation parameters using the characteristic point in the pressure identification curve of slug flow.The new method overcomes the non-unique of type curve matching.It can be used not only to identify the flow period and reservoir type,but also to select the characteric point directly.Not having to calculate the derivative,the pressure identification curve of slug flow is more smooth than the pressure derivative of constant production rate,and the characteric point is easier to be selected correctly.Therefore,it is specially suitable for the pressure analysis of early slug flow in the low-pressure and/or tight reservoir,and can be used in slug test of the fractured well and dual-porosity reservoir.The most important aspects of new method are simplicity,convenience,high-speed and accuracy.The field applications indicate that the new method is correct.
