A NEW-TYPE RESIN COATED PROPPANT

  • The general situations about of resin-coated proppants that have been developed and used in the Western countries since the middle of 1970 are introduced in this paper. This kind of proppant overcomes the inherent shorttages of the traditional proppants(sand and ceramicite). Not only are crushing and flowback are prevented, but also the embedment is reduced. In addition, because of prevention of the migration of fines,it can keep the fractures retain a good permeability for a long time under higher closure stress. Now,a vast amount of proppants have been used which instead of both sand and ceramicite in many oilfields in USA.According to the experimental data and the field applications, this paper shows tha it is more effective than the tranditional proppants in hydraulic fracturing, and using this proppant can increase greatly the production of oil and gas.The economic benefit analysis indicates that it is most economical and reasonable;therefore,it has a great developing tuture in hydraulic fracturing treatments.
