  • As one of the disruptive technologies in the field of information science, big data is gradually becoming an effective way for oil companies to increase production efficiency and reduce non-production time and cost. To promote the rapid development and wide application of big data in the field of drilling and completion, this article analyzes the requirement of big data technology in drilling and completion. The development status of drilling and completion big data is introduced. The content and characteristics of drilling and completion big data are elaborated. The drilling and completion optimization program is designed from the aspects of the overall framework and application scenarios. It is recommended to draw the successful foreign big data experience and establish a unified big data analysis platform. The characteristics of big data should be combined. The related projects should be deployed aiming at specific application scenarios. The application framework and scenario design of drilling and completion big data should be further optimized.
