The effects of incline heterolithic strata on SAGD development

  • The Inclined heterolithic strata has certain influence on the development effect of dual horizontal well, SAGD. The McMurray group oil sand reservoir of Long Lake Oil Field in Canada was taken as the object of research, in which, the numerical simulation method was adopted, the features of the inclined heterolithic strata of wells in-between of injection-production well group, the simulated contrast was conducted on the impact of the inclined heterolithic strata’s angle of inclination, the interlayer interval interlayers, and the extended length on the development effect of SADG. The research shows that the inclined muddy intercalation of injection-production well (IBIP) had a great impact on the production index of SAGD; and, for the model of IBIP types whose interlayer interval is 20~40 m, with the increasing of interlayer’s angle of inclination, lessening of the interlayer interval, and increasing of the extended length, the production peak hour will become late, and the oil production peak value will become lower, and the cumulative oil production will gradually increase. As for the models of IBIP type whose interlayer interval is more than 40 m, the greater the inclined angle, and the larger the interval, and the shorter the extended length, the oil production peak hour will bring forward and the oil production peak value will reduce much more. So, when the inclined angle is 3°, the interlayer interval is 40 m, and the extended length is 12 m, the daily oil production will reach to the highest peak value on the whole. And when the inclined angle is 8°, and the interlayer interval is 20 m, the final cumulative oil production will reach to the highest value on the whole. This result has an important significance on guiding further arrangement of the location of dual horizontal well SAGD.
