Application of a new type of pre-packed screen in the Bohai QHD32-6 Oilfield

  • The completion operation of gravel packing takes long time, its quality control difficulty is high and its packing efficiency can be hardly ensured. When it is applied to offshore oilfields, its comprehensive cost is higher and its process application is limited. A new type of pre-packed screen was developed and applied in the adjustment well of Bohai QHD32-6 Oilfield, which could directly run into the sand control hole section of production well after it was packed with gravels at the workshop. It provided efficient sand control by virtue of gravel packing zone. Compared with the traditional pre-packed screen, the pre-packing gravel is unconsolidated, lipophilic and hydrophobic with low density and has strong self-cleaning ability. Its field application shows that this new type of pre-packed screen is remarkably advantageous in terms of sand retention accuracy, anti-plugging capacity and running resistance and it has the function of partial water control. Therefore, it is a new type of sand control tool that can partially replace the field gravel packing for sand control completion, and it can be used for the rate of penetration (ROP) and efficiency improvement, the oil production increase and water production control, and the efficient sand control in extended reach horizontal wells.
