Application of Power-V in gypsum-salt rock

  • Kelasu tectonic zone in Kuqa depression contains the gypsum-salt rock of paleogene system. This rock stratum has gone through complicated development, contains interlayer and large inclination angle, is vulnerable to accidents such as hole deviation, bit jamming and well leakage, and is one of the formations with the highest drilling difficulty and the most problems in China. Therefore, to safely and quickly drill through the gypsum-salt rock, discover the oil/gas bearing situation in reservoir under gypsum-salt rock, and avoid the serious consequences such as delay of drilling cycle and borehole scrap has become the issue to be settled, In the course of drilling operation of Well Keshen 102, the Power-V drilling method has been applied in the gypsum-salt rock. It has been proven that it is feasible to use the Power-V drilling method in gypsum-salt rock, which can not only effectively control the hole deviation so as to guarantee the wellbore quality, but also greatly increase the mechanical drilling speed. The engineering approach should be used when the gypsum-salt rock is encountered in the course of Power-v drilling operation, so as to avoid the jamming accident caused by creep effect.
