Sand control completion technology by staged squeeze packing in openhole horizontal wells

  • In order to address the difficulty in equilibrium modification outside the pipe string of horizontal wells in sand producing reservoirs, the sand control completion technology by staged squeeze packing behind the string in openhole has been developed. Its principle is that, by isolating the horizontal section in stages with isolating packer behind the pipe and packing the sliding sleeve with repeatable switch, the sand-control service pipestring is used to realize sand control by staged squeeze packing. Compared with gravel packing at the bottom of horizontal wells, the sand-control parameters can be optimized in stages according to the differences of physical properties in horizontal section, so the horizontal section can be serviced in more equilibrium. Production practice shows that, in wells completed by staged squeeze packing in openhole section, the production after sand control is even high and sand control effect is favorable, providing a new concept for sand-control completion technology for horizontal wells.
