Design of static flow control parameters for equilibrium fluid supply completion of horizontal wells

  • In view with imperfect equilibrium fluid supply completion technology for horizontal wells in Shengli Oilfield as well as the problems such as low single well production, complex producing zones, a set of design methods were established for ‘static flow control parameters’ of equilibrium fluid supply completion technology, which is divided into four steps in a proper order: division of producing sections, production allocation of each producing section, choke and pressure drop design for each producing section and design optimization of flow control parameters. Division of producing section is for the purpose of reducing the adjoining zones with great difference in heterogeneity and isolating physical properties of the producing zones; the bottom-water and edge-water reservoirs respectively use the principles of ‘consistent water breakthrough time’ and ‘equilibrium fluid supply’ for production allocation of each producing wells; the flow pressure at heel should be properly established to optimize the choke pressure drop required by each producing well section; the blind screen ratio should be properly selected for flow control section to ensure that the flow control screen can give full play of its flow control performance. The result of example calculation shows that the completion string with equilibrium fluid supply designed by ‘static flow control parameter’ method has remarkable flow control effect. This design method is easy and practical, and provides theoretical support for the promotion of equilibrium fluid supply completion technology in Shengli Oilfield.
