Compression technique for drilling bit of drillable bridge plug during downhole motor slide drilling

  • While drilling out bridge plugs in directional wells or horizontal wells, the downhole motor can be used for slide drilling in order to reduce wear and tear; in this case, technique of putting press on drilling bit becomes a critical factor. A drill string pull-torque model was used to provide the driller with a reference table containing bridge plug depth, hook load under different friction coefficients when drilling to the bottom and press control of hook load when adding different presses on bit. The driller will find the corresponding press of hook load from the table when drilling to the bottom, then lower the drilling tools, keeping the hook load consistent with the designed value, and then put on press on bit. Drilling out the plugs in four wells on site, no evident backing pressure was observed.
