Application of heating sucker rod to heavy crude lifting

  • Research on oil production process by using heating sucker rod is conducted, since downhole pump depth of screw pump production process is to certain extent limited, oil production process using heating sucker rod is widely applied, there is no limit on pump setting depth and it can be continually heated.According to the principle and the technical index of electrothermal oil recovery process, oil production process using heating sucker rod is designed by taking selection of wells, heating depth, heating power, and working system into account.During the process of study, such processes as the screw pump process, the process of cables outside pipes, the process of heaters with variable frequency, the process of electromagnetic heaters, and the process of heating sucker rods.Field test shows that the new process can be used to solve the difficulties of heavy crude flow in borehole, improving heating effect, relatively prolong service life, and decrease energy consumption.It is valuable to be popularized in current situation.Meanwhile, the process has some disadvantages such as unbalanced three-phase voltage and high energy consumption which need to be improved further.
