Abstract:
PDC bit is one of the main rock breaking tools in drilling process. The quality of PDC bit and its compatibility to lithology and other
technical drilling conditions directly impact drilling rate, quality and cost. Numbers of drilling practices show that, the rock breaking efficiency and
service life of PDC bits are influenced significantly by the profile figure, cogging size, back rake angle, cogging density, and flowpath nozzle design.
According to the formation features in the depth above 2800 m in Sulige block, field test and numerical simulation are combined to determine the profile
figure, cogging size, back rake angle, cogging density, and hydraulic structure. The ?215.9 mm G1943 PDC bit is developed, which is applied on 10 wells in
Sulige block, with the average footage of 2154.31 m, and penetration rate of 26.21 m/h, which is 29.62% higher than the adjacent wells. The bit has the
advantages of long service life and high rate of penetration, so it has the value of being popularized.
