Abstract: Most downhole power drills for horizontal drilling are constituted basically by positive displacement drills. This paper presents the basic structure and mechanlsm of posltive dlsplacement drills, analyzes the theoretical and practical performance of positive displacement drills and discusses the basic concepts involved as well as its operational precau tions in field application.
