Abstract:
In general Hanilcatam area of the Tarim Basin, oil and gas reservoirs are deep, the open hole section of second spud is long, and the deep layers are of strong abrasivity with the crossing of competent and incompetent beds. Therefore, the drilling in this area is faced with multiple difficulties, e.g. poor penetration of bits, rapid failure of PDC bits, low ROP and low bid price. To solve these problems, the torsion-impact drilling technology was introduced to increase the ROP and decrease the cost by using high-efficiency rock breaking technology. This technology was tested and applied in 36 wells from 2012 to 2015. It is indicated that it is remarkable in ROP improvement results and economic benefit. The average ROP of hole sections where this technology was tested and applied is 5.74 m/h, which is over 2 folds that of rotary drilling technology and over one fold that of combined drilling technology. And the drilling period of each well is reduced by 25.87 days on average. It provides the technical support for ROP increase and cost decrease of deep and ultra deep well drilling in the platform-basin area of the Tarim Basin.
