Abstract: The East 5-3 Block of Karamay Oilfield is now in a stage of high water cut and high recovery percentage; the remaining oil is highly scattered, and the underground oil/gas distribution regularity has changed greatly. Through studying the reservoir characteristics of this block, the analysis of development effect was carried out combining the dynamic and static effects, understanding was enhanced to the remaining oil distribution regularity on plane and profile and the types of remaining oil were outlined. In line with the characteristics of large variation in physical properties of reservoirs and strong heterogeneity in this block, a viable measure for tapping the potential production was presented, which is of somewhat significance for development adjustment, enhance oil recovery and maintaining a continuous plateau production of crude oil in the reservoirs of this Block.
